I have been talking to you about how to reach the depths of life, of our essence, using the center of Being and how that center was located in different places for different cultures: for Tibetans in the Third Eye; for the Chinese and the Japanese in the Hara or Dan Tien.
But today I want to talk to you about the center of the Hindu Being.
And remember that, establishing yourself in these center is of vital importance because it is a way of:
-Be connected to existence,
-Give a deep rest to the mind eliminating anxiety and depression,
-And experience the well-being with Life.
Now: Where do Hindus place these center?
There are many currents of Hinduism and Buddhism that try to develop these centers. So are the so-called chacras that are generally located along the entire spine.
However, the conception widespread in their culture is that the center is in the heart.
The Center of Being
In fact, one of the most famous sutras of Buddhism that is considered the discourse of the essence of wisdom is known as the Heart Sutra.
And it seems that they are not so misguided to place the center of the Being in the heart due to several reasons:
1.-Other ancient cultures also believed in the power that resided in the heart. The victorious warriors ate the hearts of the defeated because for them the center of intelligence, courage and life resided in the heart.
2-The mother’s first connection with the child is through the navel (the center of Being for the Japanese and the Chinese). But once the child is born the second most important connection to obtain vital energy is through breast milk and that area belongs to the heart. This link is so intense that one of the ways of manifesting maternal love is by placing the child close to the heart not only to love him, but to sleep and reassure him.
3-You cannot love or feel the body with the mind then when you are in love or afraid, heart is the first to be affected. There is a very old proverb that says that a calm heart is life for the organism.
Heart is the existence
Notice that the deepest links between people and between them and animals and plants are the links of the heart. However they do not arise through thought. Note that when you really love someone you don’t have to explaining, it is a link so deep that it enters a dimension that cannot be rationalized.
Have you ever heard the expression: “Love is blind”? This is because when there is that kind of link from the heart, it will not be understood at all how it has begun to feel or why.
For these, and many other reasons, is why for the Hindu culture the link of man with existence is through the heart and they have a whole training system to develop this center of Being.
How to do it? I propose to analyze that in the next article.
